Kentik Strengthens Network Visibility in Multi-Cloud Era with Support for Microsoft Azure

Company Now Unlocks Network and Business Insights Across AWS, Azure, GCP

SAN FRANCISCO – April 2, 2019 – Kentik®, the provider of network analytics for the cloud-native world, today announced integrated support for Microsoft Azure. With Kentik’s Azure support, enterprises and service providers gain access to a real-time view of their applications and services running in Azure, as well as into and across multi-cloud environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

In an industry survey of more than 300 networking peers, Kentik verified that multi-cloud is real and quickly becoming more common than hybrid architectures. Deployment agility, operational efficiency, scalability, and cost are just a few multi-cloud drivers. Kentik’s multi-cloud capabilities, combined with its robust network visibility for hybrid and traditional environments, provide the complete, big-picture insights organizations need to keep their cloud applications, networks, and businesses performant, reliable, and secure.

“Networking doesn’t go away with the move to the cloud. Multi-cloud environments add new network complexities as organizations struggle to understand where applications and services reside and which internal teams and external customers have dependencies on these applications and services,” said Avi Freedman, co-founder and CEO of Kentik. “At Kentik, we’re focused on addressing these network complexities by bringing end-to-end network insights and business understanding to our customers. Adding support for Azure is another step forward in our efforts to enable comprehensive network visibility for enterprises and service providers.”

With integrated Azure support, Kentik’s SaaS analytics platform now ingests flow data directly from Microsoft Azure’s Network Security Group (NSG) Flow Logs. These NSG Flow Logs provide information about incoming and outgoing IP traffic, including byte and packet counts. When combined with other network data sources, including Azure-specific context like instance and region names, and orchestration information from Kubernetes and other sources, Kentik’s platform enables organizations to gain real-time insights on performance, security, cost management that make sense to stakeholders beyond the network team.

Kentik began ingesting flow data from AWS VPC Flow Logs and GCP VPC Flow Logs late last year. The platform also integrates with other cloud infrastructure data sources, including host-level instrumentation (e.g., per-host real-time telemetry with performance (latency/loss) metrics and layer 7 decodes), virtual network appliances (e.g., standard telemetry like NetFlow, BGP, and SNMP from VM-based appliances), and container orchestration/service mesh (e.g., Kubernetes and Istio).
